With years of dedicated effort under the name Plastic Move, we have evolved into PM Biomaterials, our new parent company, driven by a visionary approach to transform the plastic industry. Our commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology continues to lead the charge toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
The vision of PM Biomaterials began in 2015 with groundbreaking research by our founder, Büşra Köksal. As the bioplastics field evolved, we recognized a critical gap in sustainability: many bioplastics were being produced using food sources. This was not in line with our commitment to true sustainability. Driven by the need for a more eco-friendly solution, PM Biomaterials embarked on a journey to innovate. From 2017 to 2021, we refined our patented technology, leading to a unique formula that converts starch-based food waste into high-quality biopolymers. Our pioneering approach not only reduces waste but also supports a sustainable future for the planet.
In 2021, Plastic Move was founded as a start-up in Kağıthane, Istanbul, with a vision to revolutionize the bioplastics industry. With an initial valuation of $4.5 million, Plastic Move successfully secured its first round of investment. During this time, we continuously refined our formula and conducted significant trials with global companies. As our improved formula gained traction, Plastic Move required increased capacity to meet customer demand and expand our R&D efforts.
In response, Plastic Move completed a second round of investment with a valuation of $10 million. This milestone enabled us to relocate to a larger facility in Maltepe, Istanbul, with a production capacity of 100 tons of biopolymers and bioplastics. Our expanded capabilities mark a significant step forward in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to our clients worldwide.
With our brand-new vision, we have taken an important step to advance our innovative solutions. PM Biomaterials is now the parent company of Plastic Move, leveraging eight years of experience across 17 sectors. Our focus is on bio-engineering plastic raw materials. We are dedicated to developing technology and producing sustainable raw materials for the betterment of both our planet and the industry.
